We have television shows regarding a bunch of persons stuck in an island full of mystifying and appaling obscurities. And we have television programs regarding superheroes starting to grasp their unearthly powers.

Surely, we have television programs referring to the incredible.

What we don't have are TV shows about high fantasy.

All of this is ready to change with the opening of Legend of the Seeker.

Established loosely on Terry Goodkind's hit series of fantasy novels, the Sword of Truth, Legend of the Seeker conveys the account of Richard Cypher - starred by Craig Horner - who is an adolescent woodsman in a world parted into two chief locations. Richard is from the serene and innocent place called the Heartlands, which is sheltered by supernatural borders from the remaining of the world, called the Midlands.

One time, the limits were broken, and the Heartlands was attacked by all means of evil, using power the likes of which the Heartlands has not in any chance seen before. These evil forces are commanded by a tormentor who lords over the Midlands and who has set his eyes on the Heartlands, Darken Rahl - portrayed by Craig Parker.

The violation also brought in the mysterious Kahlan - played by Bridget Regan - a young female who possesses powerful magic. Richard encounters Kahlan and the latter tells her of his destiny, that he is predestined to be the famous hero named the Seeker who is deemed to be the savior of the world as it shatters.

Doubt and a search for self-discovery follows well, culminating in the discovery of a legendary artifact, the Sword of Truth, and the birth of the champion of this story.

Certainly, the story may not appear original, given the fact that the same concepts have been used in many fantasy volumes, video games and comic book series in years past. But this is one of the few moments when a primetime t.V. Series will focus on such concepts and storylines, and such ought to enliven spectators everywhere in the world who have long hungered for dungeons and dragons and dastardly villains on their small screens.
